Animal Related Deaths, 2000 - 2010 (Fact Sheet)
Originally published in 2006, this updated publication outlines
the number and nature of animal related deaths reported to an
Australian coroner over the last decade.
Deaths in Emergency Lanes, 2000 - 2010 (Fact Sheet)
Between 1st July 2000 and November 2010, 29 cases were identified
on the NCIS where a person was struck in an emergency lane after
their vehicle had stopped. This publication examines basic
frequencies and provides de-identified case summaries.

Deaths in the Home, 2003-2007 (Fact Sheet)
Two thirds of unintentional deaths in the home
reported to Australian coroners between 2003 and 2007 involved
either drowning, fire, falls or vehicle impacts. These four
causes of death are featured in this report.
Alcohol Involved Deaths of Young People (Fact Sheet)
This fact sheet contains information about deaths reported to a
Coroner between 2003 and 2006 of those aged 13-25 years with a
BAC of greater than or equal to 0.05g/100mL.

of deaths contributed to by a faulty, misused or poorly maintained
consumer product (as identified on the NCIS database).
SIDS
Bulletin
This publication summarises information about cases contained on
the NCIS where the deceased was aged up to 2 years (0 - 23 months
inclusive) and died suddenly as a result of unascertained causes,
commonly referred to as 'Sudden Infant Death Syndrome' (SIDS).
An initial document which provides information about some of the benefits of the NCIS for
coroners and practical uses. Regular updates will be produced to highlight some other
practical uses of the system as they occur.
